2nd July 2008:
What's going on?
Lots, that's what. Which is why we've been a bit slow updating the website. Sorry.
Right, firstly, our new single, 'Hoverfly' will emerge beautifully formed from its chrysalis on 1st September, and we'll be celebrating the very next day with a gig at the ever wonderful Artrocker night in Islington.
A couple of brand new demos are now up on MySpace for your delectation- they're called Falling From Grace and Procrastination, so click on the big orange link over there >and check them out now. They're brilliant.
We've a few more gigs to announce- 31st July sees us on our home turf, at Kentish Town's beloved Bull and Gate, 20th September sees us getting Hawaiian on Brighton's arse at the Magnum Opus Rock-a-hula-luau, and 2nd October we'll be repelling cool people from 100 yards at club Chicken Royale.
31st May 2008:
As major pop stars, we Inconsolables don't need to use public transport. But when we heard that from midnight tonight, drinking on buses, tubes and trams would be prohibited, we were concerned for the welfare of those of you who do. So, we've sprung into action, and instructed our people to distribute sustainable, 100% recyclable drinking solutions, for use after midnight. We, er, our people, will be travelling around the Circle Line tonight handing out what is surely destined to be this year's most desirable accessory:

All in all though, we wish Mayor Johnson all the best in his efforts to stop young people taking part in drunken, senseless, destructive behaviour.

Here's to four years free from hypocrisy and sound-bite led policy making. Cheers Boris!
26th May 2008:
We are one today! Happy Birthday Inconsolables!

(Thanks to Claire for the lovely cakes)
22nd May 2008:
New dates:
A couple of gigs to announce- we'll be popping up at London's Water Rats on 27th June for a night at 328 Club, whilst further off we'll be making an appearance at Chicken Royale on 2nd October. We've got lots, lots more in the pipeline, but frustratingly we have to keep schtum until everything's in place. Update soon...
4th April 2008 Update:
Wahey, we're in the b3ta newsletter!
Hello b3tards, if you've not heard us before, you can download a load of our stuff for free at Last.fm.
4th April 2008
NW5 Hamster mayhem!
QUAKE! as a giant hamster marauds around Kentish Town, attacking taxis, phone booths and quality ladieswear emporium Blustons. GASP! in amazement at the special FX. And WEEP! as Noel Fielding gets nibbled to death.
Yes, the video for our debut EP, 'I Want To Go To Borneo', is online now, here, and on YouTube. Thanks to Johnny Bower for his enthusiasm, patience and directorial skills.
And to remind you, we've been nominated for the Artrocker/Converse New Blood competition this month. We're currently second, behind a pair of croissant-wielding smug French gits, so please click here, download our free track and vote for us, we'll be happier than Richard Gere was when we shot our video up his backside.
17th March 2008
WANTED: Word that sounds like "Maundy", but means "Punky".
Yes, everybody's favourite non-present related religious day is nearly upon us, and with it, a FREE Inconsolables gig! Huzzah! I hear you all cry. Particularly those of you south of the river. Because, as a fantastic opening to the four-day long party that is Easter Weekend, we'll be playing South Eats London at the New Cross Inn this Thursday, 20th March. As it's free, and you almost certainly don't have any work to do the next day, we expect you'll definitely want to come. Won't you?
And it always rains on Good Friday, so you can spend the next day eating cake and watching telly, and feel no guilt about it whatsoever. Deal?
7th March 2008
VOTE FOR US!
The Inconsolables are currently in Artrocker's New Blood downloady popularity contest thing on the Converse Music website. It's totally free to register and vote for us- all you need to do is follow the link above and enter all your details (or someone else's if you're feeling mischievous*).
IMPORTANT: There's a box on the registration form asking for a registration code- don't worry about this, you can enter any old number and it'll work. Converse tell us that you don't need a code, and they're going to sort it out, but God knows when, so just bung a number in for now.
If we win, we'll spend all our lucre on lovely shoes .
*Not really.
6th March 2008

Artrocker have given us a nice little write up this month's issue, and a plug for our fantastic debut EP, I Want To Go To Borneo, which is of course available on iTunes, from Rough Trade, as well as direct from us if you're one of them foreigners. We have some more interesting Artrocker related news, but that'll follow in a day or so, keep checkiing for updates.
Artrocker is available from all good High Street retaillers, and Borders.
23rd February 2008
We're working on a raft, no, a flotilla of new songs, which we look forward to presenting to you very soon, meanwhile we're squeezing in a quick gig at Tommy Flynn's in Camden High Street this Tuesday, because, well, you just can't keep us offstage frankly. We'll also be popping up at South Eats London in a few weeks time, more on that soon.
8th February 2008
Look out Sussex! The Inconsolables' squonked-up pop spurts out of London tonight, like pus from a bubo, infecting the good folk of Hastings with furious, feisty, foaming-mouthed punky pop. We'll be at the opening night of The Wire, at the Brass Monkey- it's free, so if you're in the area, come along.
What else are you going to do? We have 50% more members than any other band playing Hastings tonight, and we leap around at least 100% more.
15th January 2008
We're pleased to confirm that we'll be playing Artrocker on 5th February, down at the Buffalo Bar- entry is free once you've applied for your free Artrocker membership card. But remember, Artrocker is a very busy night, and the Buffalo is, er, compact and bijou. So we recommend you get down early, unless you want to queue up in the drizzle with all the smokers.
Did we mention there's a new demo up at Last.fm?
9th January 2008

Happy New Year Inconsolafans! New year, new songs, new video*, and new gigs- what an exciting start to 2008.
Firstly, we're excited to announce that we return to the stage at the Metro, Oxford Street W1, on Thursday 31st January and then a week later, on Friday 8th February we invade 1066 country to give Hastings one in the eye at The Wire.
It's going to be a massively enjoyable evening of smashed up punk, with prizes to be won, drinks to be drunk, shapes to be thrown, and most of all, us playing our first gig outside the M25. And it's entirely FREE, so there's no excuse not to come along.
Secondly, we recently supplied a super exclusive demo of 'The Kid Will Cry' to Twee As Fuck, who gave it away to fifty lucky punters on their hand-knitted organically-certified schmindie CD sampler. But we're a democratic bunch, so we thought we'd stick it up on Last.fm for you to download free, gratis and for nuffink. All we ask in return is that you let it into your cold hearts.
And finally.....the furry, 1:78 scale spectacular which is our epic NW5 disaster movie is quite literally nearly finished. It'll be up here and on YouTube very shortly, believe us...
12th December 2007
Eyeliner was fantastic- a brief recap in case you weren't there:
Sexual Hot Bitches were excellent as ever, Chycca the Japanese bondage act wasn't suspended in the air, but she did cover her body in foam and set fire to herself, so we're not quibbling. The Working Men's Club is brillliantly gaudy and looks like the Phoenix club. We can't wait until next month...
As the temparature drops and the nights draw in, we Inconsolables cosy up in our winter lair and prepare for 2008. We're recording a batch of demos ready for our next single, 'Hydra', which we'll be recording with Kev at the Fortress next month. Meanwhile, another new song, 'The Kid Will Cry' will appear on Twee as Fuck's compilation, which is free to the fiirst lucky punters at the club this Friday. Our first video is almost finished (hooray!), and with a bit of luck, both it and the demos willl be up here for your perusal before Christmas...
29th November 2007
Eyeliner at the Working Men's Club

It's our final gig of 2007, and it's going to be the best yet. In addition to us, there's music from Sexual Hot Bitches, aerial Japanese bondage, wandering make-up artists and pop music a plenty.
Don't tell us you've got something better to do than watch The Inconsolables and aerial Japanese bondage. You haven't. There is literally nothing more entertaining than that.
19th November 2007
"I Want To Go Borneo" OUT NOW!
UK listeners can buy it in store or via mail order from Rough Trade, whilst if you're overseas you can order a CD from us direct, and wherever you are in the world, you can download from it from
17th November 2007
Gig tonight at the Barfly- Casino Royale follows straight afterwards, so we'll be on stage at the unusually early time of 9pm. That's 9pm sharp, mind you, so don't be tempted by one last swift one in The Enterprise, or you'll miss it.
Actually, don't go to The Enterprise anyway, come early to catch White Man Kamikaze's set.
Tonight is of course the launch of the debut EP on our little label, Jealous Tony, and Sumo TV's fabulous Dexy Homicide will be graciously vending the very first copies to lucky punters. What a lovely night it's going to be!
11th November 2007
Less than a week to go until our exciting EP launch gig at Camden Barfly, which takes place next Saturday, 17th November. Support comes from our good friends White Man Kamikaze, whilst after the gig you can dance the night away at Casino Royale, where the wheels of steel will be spun by none other than Marky Ramone. Bloody hell, it's going to be quite a night...
Meanwhile, we can reveal that we'll be playing a great new club called Eyeliner at Bethnal Green Working Men's Club on Friday 30th November- can't say much more at the moment, but it's going to be a lot of fun...
2nd November 2007
Thanks to Shenanigans for an enjoyable Halloween- we enjoyed Jim'll's Brain and Molloy very much and we look forward to their next themed extravaganza, where we all have to dress as Bill Murray or Andie McDowell apparently- we're not sure why but we're sure it'll be fun.
People have been writing some nice things about our forthcoming EP lately, which makes us feel all warm and special. Thanks to Organ and Frock'n'Roll for the kind words- "I Want To Go To Borneo" will be available from iTunes from Monday 19th November, those of you who want to marvel at the wonderful artwork and pull-out poster can buy the CD from London indie stores, or direct from our website from the same date...
29th October 2007
Lots to do- filming is well underway and Hamster wranglers don't come cheap, so just a quick update today.
The Shenanigans! Halloween Extravaganza takes place this Wednesday (obviously), and we're delighted to say it's upstairs at 93 Feet East, which is great, not only because last time we played there was GREAT, but because we can gorge ourselves on delicious Brick Lane beigels beforehand.
Doors 8pm, entry probably about a fiver (they haven't told us, sorry).
Dress up! We will...
11th October 2007
The mighty media juggernaut that is Jealous Tony records has popped a tyre, so we won't be inflicting our new EP, "I Want To Go To Borneo" onto your ears until the 19th November, when it'll be available in most London schmindie emporia and worldwide via iTunes. We'll be launching it like a noisy great missile at the Camden Barfly on Saturday 17th November- we really can't wait to rip the roof off the old place, so make sure you come down. Halloween details are being hammered out as we type, and we'll let you know more very soon...
27th September 2007
It's been a while since our last update, but it hasn't been quiet, my lord, no. We're all very excited and proud to announce that our first EP, "I Want To Go To Borneo" is all set for release on Monday 31st October, which as any fule kno is Halloween. Mu ha ha ha! There'll be a spooky, blood-curdling gig to launch it that night, and we'll be announcing the details soonish. Expect horrible Halloween cover versions and plenty of Kensington Gore.
You'll be able to buy the CD in London indie stores, direct from us via the website, or download it from iTunes, more details closer to the time.
In the meantime, we're taking a couple of weeks out to finish off some new material, returning triumphantly on 10th October for a gig at Unhappy Birthday Club, down at The Cuban in Camden's fashionable Stables Market.
Oh, and finally, we now have a Facebook clique group for you to join, if you're bored at work and fancy flirting with unemployment.
25th August 2007
UBL.com Just got an e-mail from the editorial chaps at Ultimate Band List letting us know that The Inconsolables are their featured pop artists of the week, which is very nice, even if we're not entirely sure what it means. Thanks UBL!
On a stern, serious and avuncular note, we'd like to take the opportunity to talk to those Inconsolafans who are so into our stuff that they've decided to let the world know via the medium of aerosol and brick. Guys- we're touched. But we don't intend to give up precious drinking time to don rubber gloves and do community service. So keep the council happy, and us happy, and give it a break, eh?
23rd August 2007
Lots of news... Howdy pop tarts, loads to report this bulletin. We'll be headlining Pop Art down at Oxford Street's Metro this 28th of August- or Bank Holiday Tuesday as we like to think of it.
Then we'll be taking our squonks, blips and blops out to Kilburn's Good Ship on Saturday 1st September, where we'll be playing their all-day festival with blistering support from the excellent Man and the Vertebrates- if you caught them last week at Hoxton's The Plaza, you'll know how exciting their new line up sounds- think Dirty Pretty Things being given a good pasting by the Bonzo Dog Band, whilst being filmed by Ken Loach in GrittyRealityVision. Well, that's our impression anyway.
Finally, and most excitingly, our debut EP is well on its way- it goes on sale Monday 1st October on iTunes worldwide, and decent indie record stores in London village. But you can get a sneak preview of two of the tracks by coming down to one of our gigs, where we'll be selling sampler CDs complete with an Inconsolables badge, sticker and two bonus demo tracks. The sleeves are great too- you should buy several each, we reckon.
6th August 2007
Underage Festial Cancelled: What can we say? Not everyone's as organised as Los Inconsolables, the promoters screwed up, and Underage fest is going to be decidedly less fantastic than it could have been. Ah well. We're still going to be shifting Buttoned Down Disco 93 feet WEST through the sheer power of sub-three minute squonk pop, so come on down and swing your flourescent pants. We'll be flogging special super-exclusive Inconsolables fun packs, with featuring badges, stickers and rare demo CDs. Gosh, we're lovely people. Underagers- we promise to sort out another U18s gig for you soon- watch this space...
20th July 2007
New Gig date : Well, summer may have been a damp squib so far, but The Inconsolables are looking forward to the autumn, when we'll be playing Camden Town's irreplaceable Barfly, or Monarch as we still tend to think of it. Whatever you want to call it, be there on Saturday 29th September.
23rd June 2007
New confirmed dates: We'll be performing in the wonderful British sunshine on the Converse stage at the Underage Festival on 10th August. The bad news is that you can only come in if you're aged between 14 and 18, but the good news is that over 18s can come and see us that very evening at Buttoned Down Liveshow, at 93 Feet East. So everybody's happy.
Further ahead, we'll be popping up at Twee As Fuck, on 14th September; while not overtly twee, The Inconsolables certainly do possess ample quantities of 'as' and 'fuck', so dust off your anorak and get on down.
27th May 2007
Inconsolables have a break : Mr and Mrs Zed are off to Borneo* and Magnus and Seb are looking for a Milk Float**, so the band are having a bloody well earned rest for a couple of weeks. Hello! if you saw us at the Bowling Lanes- it's our new favourite venue, and despite the gremlins we had a fine old time. Glad you did too.
*Not actually Borneo
**Are actually looking for a Milk Float
12th May 2007
New live dates and new Bassist: We're excited to announce that we'll be marking the height of summer by playing Buttoned Down Disco, at 93 Feet East on 10th August. Several more dates are in the pipeline, and we'll announce them here as soon as we can.
We're even more excited to introduce the newest Inconsolable, Cam, who joins us on Bass guitar for the first time at Pins and Needles on 26th May. Welcome!
7th May 2007
New Tracks: We've uploaded recordings of some new songs, 'I Want To Go To Borneo' and 'Lovers' Rock', together with a new version of 'Beat Goes On' and a cover of the forgotten Del Shannon classic, 'Ginny in The Mirror'. You can also download them on Myspace and Last.fm. All were lovingly recorded by the band at Kentish Town's exclusive TARDIS studios...
Bowling Alley gig: The Inconsolables play Pins and Needles at the Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes on Friday 26th May, along with Brontosaurus Chorus and Screaming Tea Party. Entry is £6, or £5 after midnight- but don't come then or you'll miss us, which would just be stupid. Oh, and be sure to book a lane if you want to show off your bowling skills, they go quick...
