The Other Side

Every Thursday morning, come rain or snow, the intrepid publishers of "The Other Side" give Highgate commuters the gift of their free magazine. Like a kind of anti-Metro, it's funny, absorbing, and leaves you in a good mood. The magazine then passes from commuter to commuter, wending its merry way around the system. I wonder how far a copy has travelled? As far as Theydon Bois? Quite possibly.

If you're lucky enough not to have to throw most of your wages into the gaping maw of TfL, you can read a copy here instead, although you might want to wedge yourself in a small dark cupboard and get someone to grope you to get the full Northern Line effect.

Sumo TV

We waste too much time on the Interwebs, and let's face it, so do you- you're here. Well, Sumo TV have come to save you from yourself, by skimming all the best videos off the internet and sticking them in a programme, presented by the one and only Dexy Homicide. Watch the live stream here.

Brititsh Horror Films.co.uk

Chris Wood's excellent and definitive guide to the shonky, hilarious and occasionally scary world of classic British Horror. Not sure where we'd be without Robin Asquith's Hairy Hollidays and killer dwarfs, but certainly in a much duller place.

This American Life

Touching, funny and suprising documentary series broadcast weekly by Chicago Public Radio.

Classic Cafes

It were all formica round here when we were lads, you know. There's nothing quite like a fry-up and a mug of tea in a steamy old fifties caff, all spluttering Gagias and old Pepsi signs. Tragically, the last couple of years have seen almost all our favourites smashed up and thrown into skips, but at least this site remains as a reminder of happier times.

Derelict London

Pubs, post offices, supermarkets and swimming pools - a breathtaking journey through London's beautiful ruins.

Hyped to Death

Execellent re-issue record label which "...presents the best of indie punk, powerpop and DIY from the late '70s into the first few years of the 1980s"

Los Microwaves

Absolutely lovely punk electro-pop.

Animals That Swim

At long last, a website devoted to the marvellous and sorely missed Animals That Swim. Forget the Clash and the Kinks, if anyone ever captured the spirit of London in song, it was this lot. They were the kings, they really were the kings.

The Cravats

Absolutely everything you could possibly wish for on stupendous jazz-punk legends, The Cravats. Shoreditch - here's a little lesson from Redditch...

The Borribles

Feral punk kids' odyssey across the dark metropolis, persued by murderous wombles, child snatching rag & bone men and sadistic police dwarfs. This is probably the greatest children's book ever written.

Guide to Zone 6

...because it's there. The urge to explore is the most noble part of the human condition, whether it's Borneo or Erith. In fact, especially if it's Erith. Unfortunately the author has either given up, or become permanently lost in the wilds of Ickenham. It's still a good read though.

Jealous Tony

The Inconsolables' very own record label. Aww!
